Hong Kong's government says that from Monday people arriving in Hong Kong will no longer have to go into mandatory hotel quarantine.
Travellers will also no longer have to show a negative Covid test before boarding a plane to Hong Kong.
Instead they will monitor themselves for possible infection for three days.
The news sparked a rush for flight tickets to Hong Kong, with the Cathay Pacific website operating a queuing system to book.

Singapore is to remove from Tuesday (April 26) all Covid-19 test requirements for fully-vaccinated visitors, the local authorities announced on Friday. On-arrival tests have been waived since April 1, as the city-state seeks to return to pre-Covid living.
Singapore had already dropped most restrictions for inoculated travellers, and people can now arrive there without having to undergo quarantine or have a Covid-19 test on arrival.
According to Friday’s announcement, social gatherings will no longer be limited to 10 people, and fully vaccinated travellers will not need to take Covid-19 tests before departure.

Singapore is preparing to reopen borders and substantially ease local COVID-19 restrictions after becoming one of the first jurisdictions globally to fully vaccinate 80% of its population.
The Ministry of Health issued an update on Sunday confirming that 80% of people had now received two doses of COVID vaccine, while 83% has received at least one dose.
Hong Kong has extended its mandatory 14-day quarantine measures for visitors from Macau and mainland China to 7 August. Hong Kong officials, including Chief Executive Carrie Lam, have denied reports suggesting Macau could be frozen out of an initial travel bubble between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province. A number of Hong Kong media outlets reported this week that talks were underway between Hong Kong and the mainland to implement mutual recognition of COVID-19 virus tests under their respective health code systems, with Hong Kong currently working on finalizing its own system. Those same reports said Macau would not be part of the scheme. https://www.asgam.com/index.php/2020/06/25/hong-kong-denies-reports-macau-to-be-frozen-out-of-travel-bubble-as-taiwan-eases-border-restrictions/
Secretary for Food and Health of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government Sophia Chan said on Wednesday that Hong Kong will develop a local health code system to facilitate people traveling between Hong Kong and Guangdong, or Hong Kong and Macao. Chan said in a written reply to HKSAR Legislative Council members that the Hong Kong SAR, Guangdong province and the Macao SAR are considering a pilot scheme on mutual recognition of test results of COVID-19 and mutual exemption of quarantine in a bid to relax cross-boundary flow of people among the three places within certain limits http://global.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202006/24/WS5ef301c8a310834817255349.html

In an April 19 open letter to Nevada governor Steve Sisolak asking to reopen the state’s casinos next month, Matt Maddox, the CEO of Wynn Resorts, turned to the poetics of Zen : “The only way to cross this river is one stone at a time, and we need to put our feet in the water before it is too late.” With US president Donald Trump handing power over to states to establish when and how they should handle the reopening of certain businesses, Maddox and other casino operators are calling on Sisolak to “slowly begin to reopen [casinos] with extensive safety measures in place” in mid- to late May. The state’s infection rate is among the country’s lowest, with a total of less than 4,000 cases, they argue, while hospital beds are sitting empty. https://qz.com/1842264/casinos-want-to-be-among-the-first-businesses-to-re-open/
